i work for british gas and have the prices increases explained in detail as most people are aware gas is linked to the price of crude oil and the price of petrol and diesel is astronomical. the gas in the north sea is now running low so companies have to import the gas from different countries which also cost more. i would advise people to fix or cap their prices and have a look who has the longest capping available because on only will there be prices shortly there is a lot of speculation there will be another one next year.
Lack of investment and dithering by our government has put us in this position! How stupid is it that we send our oil to Europe and then buy it back again! Duuuuuurrrr!
With each generation there seems less respect no patriotism and worsening crime. I believe any youth not wishing to further their education should serve in the armed forces where they could learn a trade, respect and hopefully reduce the sorry statistics our youth contribute.
I believe national service should be brought back for all from the age of 18. A two year spell in the armed forces would do the youth of today a power of good. It would teach them discipline and many would learn a trade which would stand them in good stead for when they return to civvy street. A lot of those doing national service would want to stay on and make a career out of it and the armed forces would no longer be short of recruits.
The problem is that they are privatised and owned by Network Rail and the maintainence work is privatised hence why there are so many problems - if it was government owned it would be used as part of their campaigning and we might actually get something done. I think the government should buy them back and sort them out, then again would the government be any better based on other things they have mucked up.
