The 4th November 2008 marked the election of Barack Obama to the White House and to the President of the United States of America. Whether you followed the election campaign or not the date is a part of history. The first mixed-race person to be elected president and represent one of the greatest powers in the world, Obama has incarnated a number of hopes of a country in a huge economic crisis. The hard tasks now lie ahead for the future president.
What is your reaction to the election? Would you change something? Do you think that one man can make a difference?
im really fed up with the fireworks they are so loud these days .. i dread to think what they must cost ,the credit crunch has not had much effect on spending on them .
I do not think the smoking ban is good. I am a smoker and I find that I go out much less often than I used to so some businesses must be suffering because I cannot be the only smoker staying away. Do non smokers realise that smokers contribute in tax more than tenfold to the NHS than what they pay out in treating smoking related ilnesses. I am excellent at my job and am likely to loose it tomorrow because someone says they saw me smoking in an undesignated area ! I wish them luck proving it. The U.K has become such a nanny state it will soon be giving us permission to get up in the moorning. Seriously though, as an older and wiser smoker who is trying to quit, I would and am trying to discourage anyone and everyone NEVER to start the revolting and disgusting habit that I have.
