What was the first gig you went to and was it a good one?
Technically the first live music event I went to was the first day of the first ever T In The Park at Strathclyde Park and I saw, amongst others that day, Rage Against The Machine and it still remains one of the best gigs I have ever been to. My first proper gig was Radiohead at the Barrowlands, the same year, with Sparklehorse in support, it was touring for The Bends as I recall, so there was lots of Pablo Honey songs. That was a good one. But Rage Against The Machine at T in the Park was amazing, especially as Cypress Hill had been booked to play before them, but, they got held up at customs, and there was uncertainty whether they would play or not, but in the end they did a short set and did some songs with RATM. One spur of the moment things! Now let me hear yours!
The first gig I went to was Runrig (Scottish folk rock) playing at Dundee University in, I think, 1988. It was good, but I thought it was rather too crowded and hot and I don't really like being stuck in crowds.
Since then, the only live music I've been to see is local bands playing in local pubs. The most recent was when Flatworld played at a local cafe.
I don't think I'd ever go back to a large pop concert as I tend to get a little panicky if I feel trapped in large crowds.
I haven't quite found much to comfort myself, apart from music (damien rice, radiohead) and cravings (ice-cream,sweets),so that's why i'm asking for your opinions.
