Wow Cliver you are having a feast there, can i come for dinner PLEASE, you are not far up the road are u from me,what job do you do to cook meals like that,we don't have many barbies as Terry usually burns most of it,and it's not ,much fun just the four of us.
We have decided or Tery and Kyle have decided we are having pizza for tea,i fancied a chinese really but never mind i will be over-ruled by the men.
Did u say that your wife is Russian i can't remember now, does she cook russian food at home, what type of food is it,i am a big big foodie fan, that is why i am overweight and not eight and a half stone like i used to be 17 years ago,i don't eat much now compared with what i used to eat years ago but now it just stays on my hips

Yes I am not that far from 'Tivvy', drop in anytime! (Just not going to tell you the address - follow your nose!!). I am a chef, tutor, trainer, and assessor! I teach food preparation and cookery NVQ to teenagers (and run courses for all ages as well). When having a 'neighbourhood barbie' we all take turns to cook on the BBQ (funnily enough, I usually don't cook on them - I just do the prep!). Both my wife and I cook Russian food at home - she usually does Borsch soup, Babushka's (Grandmother) recipe and salads and garnishes, and I usually do the rest! Kotletten is made using minced and shaped beef and pork combination, we usually buy palmini (a type of pasta, similar to ravioli), because I have never been shown how to make it! I also make a pretty authentic 'liver pate gateau' (and sell them at Christmas!), we eat a lot of bulgar wheat instead of potatoes, rice, or cous cous, and one of my favourite 'shashlik' - cube down some fresh meat (lamb works best) and marinate it for a few hours in mayonnaise, sour cream, tomatoes, oniions and fresh coriander with some salt and pepper (and sometimes a drop of wine), skewer it on long (about 15 inch) steel skewers, alternating the meat with vegetables, such as aubergines, onions, peppers and tomatoes, and cook over the BBQ, turning regularly and spraying (occasionally) with fruit juice or beer! We also snack 'Russian style' in the evenings - pickles (gherkins, onions, peppers), whole garlic cloves (marinated in olive oil), caviar (red - Salmon), sala (almost pure pork fat, with spices - like very streaky bacon, but in a block, and frozen, so you carve it of into very thin strips) and various salamis cold meats and cheeses, with fresh 'real' bread. And an 'inordinate' (to most Brits) amounts of pure, neat, straight from the freezer Vodka! We eat very well and healthily (and quite cheaply too!), but my wife has stayed a 'perfect 10' and I only have a 'bit of middle aged spread' (and I think thats mainly due to giving up all the sports I used to do!).

For the last 3 years, I have made special effort to change my unhealthy diet. I often bring food to work whenver possible and try to follow as closely to a healthy diet as possible. At the moment, I'm even more disciplined with my diet, ensuring not only I eat healthy food, but also that I get enough nutrients in my diet. For example, I try to mix brown rice wth white rice when cooking. Ensuring I use olive oil for cooking. Boiling or steaming whenever possible, avoiding deep frying, only once in a while. Do you watch what you eat?

they say, and I guess they're right on the whole - if you eat more fruit and veg etc it certainly makes a difference, you feel so much healthier and have more energy. Went veggie about five years ago and it made me look at the ingredients labels more when shopping. There's so many additives and high levels of fat, sugar and salt in most processed foods so now I cook mostly from scratch and eat wholemeal bread and brown rice, olive oil for cooking and salad dressings etc. Still must have a few treats now and then tho or life's not worth living, need some dark chocolate and one or three glasses of red wine sometimes!
