At the time of writing I have received 633 opinion replies from other users, which made me think of the old war film "633 Squadron", from 1964. (The theme tune to which is now looping through my brain- you probably know it even if you don’t realise you do). It was about a bombing raid on a German V2 factory in Norway, with the squadron being led by a USA pilot who, like many other Americans, had registered as being "Canadian" in order to fly with the RAF. It emphasised the multinational aspect of the war effort in Europe, and whilst not the best acting, had some amazing aerial photography.
Apparently the trench scene from Star Wars was based on the flight along the narrow fjord in 633 Squadron.

In the last few months I have seen The Thin Red Line, an incredible film by Terrence Malick about the battle for Guadalcanal in WWII. Once actors heard he was returning to directing they were queuing up for roles and it features some stunning acting as a result. It is very sad, very hard-hitting and one of the best films I have ever seen in its expression of the utter horror of war.

I think war films serve a purpose, I don't think we should pretend these things don't happen, and I will continue to enjoy watching them as cautionary tales.

Does anyone else find that the French are rude, arrogant and have bad hygiene. I have to deal with a number of french companies in my line of business and I am so sick of them. Anyone else suffer this problem and what do you do when they are rude to you? Should we exclude France from the European Pact till they learn some manners?

Do you think we should exclude you from the European Pact for bad manners and for being rude, arrogant and bad hygiene as you have in all of the opinions that you have listed have such a bad attitude and are damn right rude to every person vertiually under the sun. You have picked on women several times, children who can not defend themselves, dogs who again can not defend themselves, french, and probably more that I have not spoted yet. It looks to me as if you mainly want to pick on those that you feel are weak or vunreble. Somebody else tried that last week with a few very respected ladies and did not expect the way us people stick together when somebody is wrong. With any luck you will get feed up soon and crawl back under your stone just like the other idiot did. Get a life.

My hobby is jewellery making. I started last year and then managed to sell some pieces through my husbands work at christmas. I have slackened off a bit at the moment though and should really get back into it and start trying to sell at local craft fairs. I also enjoy reading and puzzles. I don't mind what puzzles but I can never go back to an unfinished puzzle I always have to start a new one. My favourite puzzles are sudoku and I also have this as a game on my mobile phone so I can play it anytime.
