Are people from up north friendlier than southerners,I think as a rule there are friendly and unfriendly people everywhere and your location has nothing to do with it.Where is the friendliest place in the UK.I find Manchester to be very friendly and always seem to have loads of conversations with strangers there it has a good feeling and people seem more laid back.London is just too impersonal and cosmopolitan and to me could be any city in the world .Or is the pace of life just too past down south for people to bother about been friendly.

Having travelled over the entire country as a function of my job, without a shadow of a doubt the rudest, most inconsiderate, selfish and just downright poor examples of this country's people reside in our capital and its immediate surroundings. There are, undoubtedly, friendly people there, but unfortunately they are as rare as hens teeth. Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the majority of England are populated by predominantly friendly peoples, but the south east still, deservedly, merits its title as the softest, lilly-livered most unwelcoming part of the UK.

I watch the TV and often feel that we Scots are treated as non-british or second class on the adverts as well as the programs if it is not in England or English they do not want to know and if by chance Scotland wins something it is hardley mentioned and if England wins something there is never an end to the news

yeah i agree with you i class the uk as all egland, scotland, wales and northern ireland but the english people down south (london) have got chips on there shoulders and if there is any news in britian other than the london area they totally not interested,i was born on the south coast and moved up to the north east of england when i was only young and i love it up here,i feel the further you live north the more the scottish and us english get on more, especially when you go on holiday abroad, the cockneys and the scottish people tend to distant themselves from each other were we tend to bond,on the subject of news in scotland us english are pretty ignorant and tend to think scotland is another planet!,but me i love the scottish people but sometimes find it hard to understand the broad scottish accent but in the meantime may way prosper to gether as a UNITED KINGDOM .................................................................

Well my partner and I went to Gran Canaria last October(2006) and really find no reason apart from the sun for anyone to visit again! This place is sooo touristy its annoying. You barely find any natives as most of the inhabitants are British German or other that work there. I think really takes the local flavour out of the experience and would not consider going back to any of the Canaries because of their lackof character. Yes, it is great that you can go to the beach in the middle of October but you can always visit one of the fabulous Greek islands which have so much character instead, and the distance from the Uk is pretty much the same. Its a thumbs down for the Gran Canaria for me I'm afraid!
