  • I was very surprised the other day when my neighbours son who is eight came into our house as I was peeling some potatoes for chips. He watched me closesly while I peeled the potatoes and then cut them up into chips. He asked me what I was doing, and when I informed him I was preparing our tea and had just prepared some chips he asked why I did not just get them from the freezer or even the chip shop, like his mummy does. I could not beleive my ears when he said Mummy never makes her own chips. I told him they were a lot nicer than the frozen ones and also worked out cheaper. he did not know that you could even make chips from ordinary potatoes. Am I the only one or have you ever come across children who do not know how to make proper chips?

  • I do not make my own chips because frankly it is too much effort and - I do not make my own chips because frankly it is too much effort and I’d rather just grab a bag from the freezer and chuck them straight into the oven. I have personally never tasted home made chips that are as nice as a good frozen brand, or as tasty as chip shop chips. I think that a lot of people use frozen these days for similar reasons to me, it’s just quicker, easier and far more convenient to use frozen.

  • I can think of lots that I like, here goes, TGF do a Saucie Tuna - I can think of lots that I like, here goes, TGF do a Saucie Tuna pizza, this co;mprises a bbq sauce base, then tuna, tomatos, balck olives, artichokes and asparagus with cheese on top. They also do a pizza called Spanaki, this has a tomato base, with feta cheese, spinach, tomato, olives and sweetcorn on it. I also like the Pizza Express one that they do with caramlised onion chutney and goats cheese, yummy, or the four cheese pizza with extra toppings of olives and spinach, delicious. I love the more original toppings and trying different combinations.

  • Onions mushrooms chunky chips and mushy peas with colmans english mustard and brown sauce.

  • I love steak but unfortunately I dont have the money to buy it that - I love steak but unfortunately I dont have the money to buy it that often. I used to go out to this pub when I was a kid on a riverside and my dad would always let us have anything on the menu. I used to just get staeak and chips with side salad. I think as a child my worst thing I hated would have to be mushrooms I dont know why and if I used to watch people eating them I would feel physically sick. I love them now though and when I can afford to buy steak I have it with mushrooms and onions cooked in a little bit of butter, A few onion rings and chips and I always make a side salad to go with it as well. Im not sure if many people will like this but when the mushrooms are done its nice to put some blackbean source on them or a bit of lea and perrins.

  • Last week a neighbours little boy came round to my house while I was peeling some potatoes and making some chips. He asked me what I was doing and I told him I was making some chips. Why do you not get them out of the freezer? he asked me, I told him that we preferred to peel our own because they were a lot cheaper and also nicer to eat. It really got me thinking that he must never have seen any of his parents peeling potatoes and making ordinary chips. Isn't this a bit strange when you think how much more expensive it is to buy frozen chips than actually peeling the potatoes and making the chips yourself.

They certainly do taste a lot better and like you said they are healthier too. I personally don't like the taste of frozen chips. My mum peels the potato and cuts them up and she puts them into the oven with some olive oil and a bit of salt. I think its also more worth while making your own chips because you've made them yourself, and you know what they contain unlike frozen chips, which could contain additives, etc.

  • The only food I really hate is melon & not many people can understand this as they say it doesnt taste of anything. What food do you hate?

  • I have a few foods which I absolutely cannot bear, the first that - I have a few foods which I absolutely cannot bear, the first that come to mind are milk and butter, although I can eat cheese and yoghurt so it is a bit of a strange one. I also hate baked beans, I cannot even bear to feed them to my son, even though I will happily give him milk and will happily cook him meat, despite being vegetarian. I also hate sprouts, but I know that is a bit more normal. Another strange dislike I have is peanuts and chocolates together, for example in a Snickers bar, yet I love both of these food items individually, work that one out.

  • Los grandes supermecados intentan engañarnos con sus fabulosas ofertas, pero solo lo intentan, no saben que tenemos calculadoras, yo nunca lo comprobe hasta ayer, que vi algo demasiado descarado, estuve comprando y al pasar por el pasillo donde vende unos bollos con agujero en medio de una conocida marca, tenian la oferta, vendian 10 unidades a 0,37 la unidad, es decir a 3,7€ el paquete (en oferta) y justo al lado vendian el mismo producto a su precio normal y embase normal a 0,31 centimos la unidad y en su paquete normal de seis unidades, viendo esto me dedique a comprobar algunas otras ofertas, siendo todas mas caras que en condiciones normales, se creen que nos pueden engañar con eso? la gente ya no es tan tonta y lo unico que conseguiran es que la gente pase de ir a ese supermercado

  • Hi. I have just received my first order from www.AQuarterOf.co.uk "the old fashioned sweetshop on the internet" and it got me thinking, what are peoples favourite sweets? Is there one from childhood that you remember fondly? Can you still get it? I like Edinburgh rock, treacle toffees, jelly beans and liquorice. I miss marshmallows which I don't have anymore as I'm vegetarian. I used to love going to get half penny chews and I used to love pacers (does anyone remember them?) and would like to see them back! What do you think?
