I agree its been awful this year - I agree its been awful this year. I read in the paper that we've had 40% more rain than average. I was hoping for an Indian Summer but don't think this will happen according to the long range forcast.

Still, we need to count our blessings - no hosepipe ban - yet, and not too many people in the UK suffering from sunstroke. Like Scuffsy i live at the top of a hill - not at all steep, but steep enough to mean I don't get flooded. But I'm doubly fed up because I've chosen today to do my unfavourite job - sorting out the cupboard under the stairs. Anyone want to come and help me? Ah well, back to work.

I think it should becuse of the antisocial mess it causes when irresponsible people deposit gum on walkways and pavements. A ban would prevent this unsightly,costly and difficult to remove mess occuring.

Gum also has proven dental benefits, if you chew sugar free gum for 20 minutes after eating a meal you can reduce the danger of tooth decay, ban gum and you take this great dental hygiene product away.

Supongo que todo será acostumbrarse a ir siempre con el carro o similares pero lo considero necesario y más viviendo en uno de los paises que más podría verse afectados por el cambio climático (por España). Por cierto, evita poner las preguntas en mayúsculas pues parece que estás gritando y estéticamente es molesto. Un saludo

Creo que el gobierno esta ya tardando en poner una medida firme contra el consumismo masivo de bolsas de plástico. Habría que erradicarlas por completo.

My work place has many times we have a cellar that every time theres heavy rain the water comes pouring in.Ive been lucky that my house has never been flooded with all the rain that we have had,I think more should be done to protect areas that are at risk from severe flooding.

We have never has actual flooding in our area, but we do have a very - We have never has actual flooding in our area, but we do have a very slow drain outside that backs up into a huge puddle if there is heavy rain. If we get very heavy rain that puddle gets dangerously close to the building where I live, but if we did get flooded it wouldn’t affect me anyway because I live on the top floor of a three storey block of flats, but the neighbours downstairs would have a major problem.

We have recycled here for quite a while we recycle practically everything. We have a brown full sized wheelie fior garden waste. we have a grey full sized wheelie for practically all other recyclables including paper, newspapers, cardboard, egg boxes, plastics, polythenes,cans, Jars, bottles, drink cartons everything apart from clothes. These two large wheelies are collected every other week in turn then we have a normal small red wheelie for household waste which is collected every week

Sometimes I am so lazy I just decide 'oh, I just can t be bothered - Sometimes I am so lazy I just decide 'oh, I just can t be bothered to put this bottle in the right bag and get it recycled,' but other times I start to tidy up everything and try to reuse or at least recycle all potential waste. Is it just me? Or do you also do it? Do you recycle/reuse things? If you don t recycle, why, is it just being lazy or not caring at all? If you do recycle, do you think it is right to do so for 'higher' reasons, like being environment-friendly? Have your say!

i love recycling- my family may think i am a recycling freak but hey i know i am doing my bit for the environment.i recycle plastic/bottles,cardboard, paper all into the orange recycling bags my borough provides on a regualr basis. we even receive black bin bags occassionally. Recently we have been given blue crates to recycle glass bottles. i like bigmama3 give clothes to charity. Every week we get leaflets through the door to donate clothes etc. Tomorrow i am donating a faulty toaster to some metal parts collectors who are picking up old/unwanted electrical goods from homes.i think its great that people are making the effort to pick up scraps so they can recycle and so on.

How far from the coast do you live? I probably live about thirty - How far from the coast do you live? I probably live about thirty miles away from the coat and the nearest to us is probably Lytham St Annes although there is not much difference between there and Southport. my husband keeps saying we ought to consider living out the rest of our lives near the sea side but I would really miss living so close to all our family. This may be a consideration in a few years time because the sea side has always appealed to me and it would be lovely to walk along the sea edge each evening.

I live about twenty miles from the coast of Southport, which is not far at all and I can get there in about twenty five minutes if the road isn't too busy. The trouble is there is only one main road from St.Helens to Southport and it gets horrendous in the summertime and you can get stuck in some really bad traffice jams through Ormskirk. Luckily I know all the tiny roads around and can skip the main road but sometimes you get stuck on the main drag into Southport. I often go in the evening if its nice and wander around or sit on the sea front. Southport has a nice theatre and have seen some good acts there.

Well, it’s autumn according to the Met Office, even though the autumn equinox is not until the 21st September. So how was your summer all round? I enjoyed the cool temperatures and the Olympic Games; somehow I managed to completely miss Wimbledon! I didn’t go on holiday as I just couldn’t afford too, but I might have a long weekend away in a few weeks.

A mi personalmente me parece maltrato, no entiendo que tiene de arte - A mi personalmente me parece maltrato, no entiendo que tiene de arte ver como marean a capotazos a un animal, en este caso un toro, después ponerle un montón de banderillas, que no creo que hagan cosquillas precisamente, a mi cuando me tienen que pinchar para sacarme sangre no me hace ninguna gracia, y no es comparable, ya lo se. Después llegan los picadores, a caballo, y solo ver la forma en que le pinchan al toro desde arriba, me da dolor, se lo tenían que hacer a ellos, entonces veríamos. Por último, llega el matador a rematar la faena, que el pobre toro tenga suerte y le maten a la primera, porque sino hasta que no acierte, a seguir sufriendo, lástima de toro.

Estoy totalmente en contra de las corridas de toros, me parece un maltrato animal y no entiendo como hay gente que puede de decir que es un arte, todo animal debe ser tratado de la manera más digna posible y sigo sin entender como esto puede estar permitido. Me parece una "fiesta" ancestral, con una brutalidad exagerada y sin ningún motivo. NO AL MALTRATO ANIMAL

Estudios recientes dicen que la produccion de una botella de agua utiliza al menos dos veces la cantidad de agua que contiene la botella. Y tu todavia te atreves a beber agua embotellada, creo que deberias pensartelo mejor. Todos deberiamos pensarnoslo mejor antes de comprar agua embotellada y ya no solo por este sorprendente dato en cuanto al gasto de agua, tan necesaria como escasa en algunos sitios, sino tambien por el uso de plasticos o cristales en la propia botella y su posterior reciclaje. Especialmente el del plastico que contamina muchisimo la naturaleza y tarda tanto en consumirse. Personalmente yo no utilizo este tipo de aguas. Claro que vivo en Galicia y aqui ahi agua sanisima en multitud de fuentes o debajo de cada piedra.

My favourite season is Autumn - My favourite season is Autumn. I just love to see the trees and the hedgerows changing colour. My second favourite is Spring, as I like to see nature coming to life again after the Winter. I do like each season in turn tho, In Summer I like the long evenings when you can spend it in the garden until late in the evening (not this year tho) and in the winter there are lovely frosty mornings , and cosy evenings spent indoors.

Jeter dehors les déchets recyclables (agrumes, légumes), je pense que ca doit etre bon pour la terre , comme un engrais. voila voila :) Lumière fermée, j'ai horreur de ca ^^

Voici un exemple que je fais tous les jours,lorsque je me brosse les dents je ne laisse pas l'eau du robinet ouvert et vous?

You can't worry about these things or let them have a negative effect on your life, yes be positive and active in trying to minimise or halt your effect on the planet/climate etc... but don't let it make you angry, because you will do nothing but destroy your own life, which is extremely small within the grand scale of the planet!

We are told it is. In the same way that the colour blue is blue. That time is whatever, wherever. That we all grow old and then we die. That night follows day and that rain on a sunny day will create a rainbow. But is the earth flat? Or is it as we have been led to believe a circle where the horizon disappears as a dip and where Australia can hold on despite being at the bottom and in danger of spinning off into outer space. What do you think?

It is a complete myth that global warming was caused by man, we may - It is a complete myth that global warming was caused by man, we may have had a small effect, but it is nothing in the grand scheme of things. There are dozens of research papers that are kept away from the public that prove global warming is simply a natural phenomenon that occurs in a recognised pattern and has done for millennia. In medieval times, the United Kingdom was hotter than Spain and Italy; we had decades of weather so hot that vineyards flourished throughout the land, even in Scotland. Due to solar activity and other natural factors such as volcanic eruptions, the planets temperature rises of it’s own accord for short periods of time before settling back down again, in fact there has been no recorded temperature rise of the planet since 2001 and this is despite a massive increase in CO2 emissions in that same period, and 2008 has so far seen a global temperature decrease, albeit small. People need to relax, take no notice of profit hungry eco-nazi’s and just enjoy life as they always have done, let Earth take care of itself.

Do you think that Global warming actually exists or is it just another Government ploy to get everyone to comply to their rules, taking advantage of natural occurrences anyway?

I am going to try woollens at home with extra blankets and only put heating on if I am ill...whatabout you?

I am concious of the gas and electricity prices now - I am concious of the gas and electricity prices now. Although I have managed to cap my price about 2 months ago so mine will not go over a certain price. Not sure when this will benefit me if it doesn't already. We have to have the heating on full blast in the winter though as my husband comes home from work like an ice block and I am not exaggerating. He is frozen, and I amke sure the house is hot for him when he gets in, some nights the only way he can warm up is by going to bed. We have a water bed so before he comes home I turn the temperature up on that for him as well, so for me it is going to be hard as I want to make sure that after my husband has worked really hard bringing home the bacon as they say for his family that at least he can come home to a warm house for him to warm up. I am sure I will figure it out.

In my opinion I think that it is perfectly fine for Farmers to kill the foxes that kill ther stock. Their stock is their livleyhood. When stock is killed the farmer looses money. They are only trying to protect their source of income. It may come acros as cruelty but these are animals that inflict cruelty on too other animals such as lambs, sheep and cats. They must be controlled to protect the wellbieng of the farm animals

I remember my Dad doing the same with us kids when we were small, - I remember my Dad doing the same with us kids when we were small, but with ice rather than flooding, back in about 76 or so. We watched cars (from a safe distance!) and tried to guess whether they were going to make a corner OK on the basis of their speed. Looking back on it I think it belongs more to the Schadenfreude camp, unlike your community spirit! All good cheap dates for kids though I guess :-) Hope the rain eases up for you!

My son now thinks I belong in a funny hospital. It has not stopped raining, roads are badly flooded etc. So when I picked my son up from school I decided to drive him a mile down the road where I knew the road was flooded. I parked the car and we walked down and watched the cars driving through those that ventured. It was over 4 foot deep. It is outside our local pub and it is known for flooding as soon as you get a lot of rain, but this time it was worse as they are building a new road by the side and the stream burst its bank into the pub car park. The staff at the pub were out in their shorts to help any vehicles that had broken down and to make sure only 1 car to drive through at any time. They were also directing the cars to where it was shallowest. Our area has a good community spirit. What has your community been doing to work together and what lengths will you go to to amuse your kids?
