My 14 year old daughter went out to the cinema last night with her friends and my mobile charger packed in so decided to go and hunt hers down (not an easy task in a teenagers room) Hunted high and low and tidied up a bit as I went along and came across a box of durex, in her school bag, with the three durex still in the box. Well you can imagine how shocked I was and what I was thinking, and wondering how to approach this with my baby girl!!!!! Anyway when she got home and said hi, are you OK, I said no and told her what I had found. Straight away she informed me that they had all been given them in her sex education class in school. I dont doubt this as she was too quick to answer and would not have thought of something that quick off the top of her head (belive me she is not that clever!!) So what are the schools doing encouraging 14 year olds to use condoms without consent, after all I am only her parent. I understand that they have to teach teens etc about this and the risk of pregnancy but surely there is a more suitable way of doing this than handing out free condoms for them to try. I have a meeting with the school on Friday and will be raising my concerns about this. What are your thoughts on this matter, are you as appauled as I am?

I recently posted about my sons condition and how we are struggling for help regarding a statement. Im pleased to say that we have finally been awarded a statement and now have funding through school to get my son a teaching asistant for 25 hours a week. This process has taken around 8 months to get the statement when we applied my son didnt not meet the education authorities criteria for help and we now have almost maximum funding!! Hopefully my son will catch up as he is around 18 months behind workwise in school. So if anyone is in the same position dont give up keep fighting for what your child deserves

Do you think schools should stop pestering children for charity money and get on with teaching?

It seems almost every week now, children are told they can go to school dressed up in various costumes in the name of some charity or special day and are then told they must pay for this privalege! It is great that there are charitable events but they should not be forced down childrens throats (who then worry their parents, many of whom cannot really afford this money but feel obliged to dig deep in order not to make their children feel the odd one out) And think of the parent/s who have more than one child in the schools!

I think schools interfere too much in what should be personal family decisions just to make the school look good. Stick to teaching the basic three R's and the world will benefit.

With 3 of my children at senior school and the next about to go I seem to get through cheque books by the dozen- school trips, study days, clubs etc etc. I suppose thats just part of raising children. I do however think that the trips abroad are ridiculously priced - £800 for 4 days skiing, £1500 to go to the gambia - is it really necessary for 15 and 16 year olds - they got their whole life ahead to experience weird and wonderful destinations. Im sure they would have a real laugh surfing and camping in cornwall - whats wrong with school trips in the Uk?

I don’t go to Church now, but when I was about ten years old until fifteen I did go to the local Sunday school, we went for lots of walks afterwards and always went on a coach outing to the seaside in the summer. Did you go to Sunday school?
