Tomorrow marks two weeks since Buster broke my leg, and getting around on crutches is a pain. I hate them. Because we have a wood floor downstairs I've been contemplating a change of tactics and am doing things differently. The NHS has given me a footstool with wheels, which is nice for propping the leg up on, but now I find it easier to zip along downstairs on my footstool, pushing myself along with my good foot and exercising the bad one by lifting that one off of the ground so that it doesn't bump. Hubby thinks I'm nuts, and I can only just reach the computer, but I do so really hate crutches! And it's a lot harder to fall off a footstool. Or maybe it's just that I'm already closer to the ground. Anyway, it's working for me!

In between one Mollygirl site and another, the story seems to have gotten lost as to what happened to my leg, so I thought I'd tell it again rather than trying to reply to everyone individually. On 1 March, the sunny Monday, I took Buster for a walk in the woods. We weren't that far from the car when he was having one of his cracker dog moments in the field and he slammed straight into the side of my right leg, breaking it. And it hurt. And there was nothing to do but wait until another walker found me because my phone has lousy reception there and the guy who did show up was not with Orange. An hour waiting for an ambulance crew to find me and a friend to collect Buster and I ended up in Salisbury hospital. Wednesday I had surgery, Friday I bitched until they let me come home and this past Friday (12th) a friend pointed out that my food is going a very bruised purple. Anyone want to run a pool on how much worse this year is going to get for me?

I tried to make an appointment for my yearly review of prescription drugs on the 5th of March ,but was told that she had no "pre-bookable appointments left and to telephone on the 15th for an urgent ,as my review is due by the 17th .Our GPs is of course an 0845 no. .It was the same as always when I phoned ......8.29 ,the surgery is not open ,call again 8.30-5.30 . Phone 8.30 and ...you are no.14 in the queue (never 5 or 8 ...always no.14 ) After waiting over 10 minutes ,I eventually made my appointment for 11.15 today .I only hope my blood pressure is back to normal by then .
I was going to see my MP about it ,but needless to say ,they could make things even more difficult than it is now .
Do you have this ridiculous routine to go through every time you need to see your GP , is this progress ?
