I shop in my local Co-Op and recently they introduced the first compostable bag. It biodegrades in the same time as potato peelings and can be put in compost bins at home.
Every time i have been in there since they had these new bags i have paid 6p for one knowing that i may be doing that little bit extra for the environment. I am frequently told by the cashiers that i am the ONLY person why buys these bags.
I think that this is an easy way we can all do a bit in reducing our plastic bag consumption but not many people seem to be doing it.
Do you buy environmentally friendly carrier bags and if not, why not?

Anything that helps I think is a good idea. I mainly use the recycle bags from Tesco, but they are really good and strong. Also from M & S and the local council lighter weight bags. Also the blue bags from ikea are really good, especialy for awkward shapes and sizes. Have to admit initially took a little while to remember to take my bags with me, but once you're in the habit, I couldn't imagine not taking them with me now.

As a nurse I am sick of people complaining about the health service. I hate how the media always focuses on the negative from super-bugs to vermin on wards, but never highlights any of the positives. I worry that all this negative press makes people scared to go into hospital for necessary treatment, and their anxiety makes the whole recovery process longer. Yes, there are problems, but I think the same problems would arise in privately owned hospitals too and I think that private health care would only serve to make things worse for those on low income.

watch the movie 'Sicko' by Michael Moore it'll certainly make you feel greatful for having a national health service!
