I am really looking forward to the follow up to last year's Life on Mars starring John Simm as Sam Tyler and Philip Glenister as his hard-assed, politically uncorrect, white shoe wearing boss, Gene Hunt, who is it must be said a bit of a (rhyming slang).

While I am not sure if 'follow up' is the correct term as the story moves to the 1980s (the original series was set in the 1970s) and features a new lead character instead of Sam Tyler, I really hope that this series lives up to the promise of Life on Mars. The new series starts soon and is called Ashes to Ashes (after another Bowie song).

Personally I can't wait, Life on Mars took me on a journey back through the 70s with the clothes, the hair, the music and the smoke filled rooms. Hopefully Ashes to Ashes will do the same with the 80s.

I think stv and Corination street did Vera proud when instead of giving her a dramatic exit they let her die in her sleep a better tribute could not be had. I think as a fan I and many others will miss vera but wish Liz all the best for the future and I understand her desision with her health problems to go. She has brought much to the soap and made it so it was not doom and gloom like a lot of soaps I am sure Jack will miss Vera and we will have a lot of scenes on screen to reflect real life about a couple who death splits after all that time.

i hardly watch coronation street anymore as it is quite boring and from what ive heard i didnt miss much
