might sound a mad question, but maria asking about mushroom and berry picking reminded me of potato picking and my one and only experience of it...it was backbreaking work! we got rained off during the afternoon and boy were we glad! never went back...I was sixteen, a city girl, and had no sense whatsoever and set off to potato pick wearing some of my best clothes - a gorgeous pair of black fine needlecord trousers with a pattern of small roses - they got filthy -as I always say, you can't put an old head on young shoulders! have you ever been and did you last longer than we did? I am sure someone once put it as the worst job they ever had...

no but i have been strawberry picking, cant wait to go again this year. we get a huge basket for �4, thats a bargain!!!
