Fast food is great - in moderation. It's the moderation part that I find difficult. If I was asked what my favourite fast food is I don't honestly know what my answer would be, sometimes I like chinese, other times it's got to be curry, then there's times when only a pizza will do, and then of course there's fish an chips!! But sometimes it's better just to have beans on toast!! And don't forget about the good old traditional roast dinner, with all the vegetables that you can think of.

Once upon a time, adult education lessons were run by every local authority and were freely available almost all over the country. They were attended by people who needed to learn for work, who wanted to learn for fun and also by people who wanted to meet others with the same interest.

Slowly,the funding has been withdrawn, first for non- examination courses, then for exercise and fitness and now for anyone over 25. Where does that leave the hundreds of adults who used the class to learn a new skill or to keep up an old one?

For many years I taught Tai Chi for Arthritis to a group ranging in age from 20 something to 78. Then the cuts hit. We had initially run the class in the local health centre - then we moved to the local library. This was great, as it was a local class, and had local support. In order to save money ( the llibrary charged £5 a week) we were moved to a school in the nearest town. But the school was a long way from the bus stops, and the room had no seating, and so on. The next school year, it was decided to make the class only available to over60's and rename it tai chi for the older person. Several people were under 60 , including the tutors. We were told it was because governemnt was only funding examination courses for under 25's and English for Speakers of Other language courses.

I am interested in finding out how many other people have been affected by this.
