How long do i have to wait before i can flash my hair,as im goin on hol soon and dont want it goin blue in the pool?

Excuse the ignorance but what is flashing your hair? I have had my hair lightened for many years but not sure what steps and chemicals they use in flashing so don't want to let you know about my experience. Maybe expand about what flashing is and people may be able to come up with some suggestions
