Don't you think it would be a good idea to be able to have it as law, to sign problem teens up for service in the forces? As there is a lack of disciplin at home, at school, and little or no help from the police to deal with them. At least if they were enlisted, the majority would come out trained, diciplined, respectful, and would probably end up with decent jobs!

Bootcamp or enlisted for duty. Teach them skills, respect, structure and discipline so that they can contribute to society not make people's life hell. Note the topic is unemployed problem teens so not slating all teens. I think that it should be school, adv study, work or military duty. Wouldn't harm them in the least and as much as they won't admit it now I think they would really enjoy it in the long run.

Children get offered the choice of french, german spanish etc at school - why cant schools give children the option to leave British Sign Language.

I would rather see makaton sign language being taught in schools, as it is more universal, you sign as you speak, and its so much easier to learn.

i did in Junior School, only once, and it was enough, i hurt, and HONEST it was not my fault, the boy behind me was talking and the teacher said it was me, so because she thought i,d spoke and mainly i think cos i disagreed with her she sent me to the Headmasters Office. there was already another boy there, and he,d had the cane before, so he told me to wet my hand and it would not hurt as much, i did, but he hit me on a part i,d not wet properly. it Hurt Big Time. ... i,ve never been really naughty, just mischievous, some things never change. ..Those Where The Days ,, lol --- tell us your tales, and be Honest, please

i never got the cane at school, but i did get smacked across the face whilst in the infants at primary school, i got my maths wrong! It was just before corporal punnishment was fully banned in schools. Our teacher was a right old prune though, she ended up retiring not long after. I do think some sort of punnishment should be brought back for teaching though, as teachers now days spend more time trying to controle unruly children than they do actually teaching them.

I think tha Parents of badly behaved children should receive counselling on how to be more responsible parents, instead of sending the kids off to counselling all the time. Kids learn by example, and if they see their parents behaving irresponsibly, what hope have they got.

Parents are primarily responsible for looking after their kids, but because schools, and the police are no longer allowed to play a part in teaching children the simple rule of- you're not going to get away with it. Plus the do-gooders of the world saying shame on you for smacking your child as a last resort, a lot of parents go for the easy life and let their kids get away with all sorts! God forebid that you should tell someone elses child off, as you will then only encourage their parent(s) to come knocking on your door, with all sorts of blinding language infront of your child, mouthing off about how dare you tell their son/daughter off. Someone already said it: children learn by example.
