It’s almost impossible to get shoes repaired because, unless you buy very expensive shoes with leather soles, they all have moulded heels and soles which means they have to be thrown away when they are worn.
The same with lots of electrical appliances, if your microwave breaks down there is no-one to fix it or if there is it will cost you more than buying a new one which is a shocking waste of resources; all that metal, plastic etc to say nothing of the energy needed to produce these goods.
What can we do to stop choking up our landfill sites?

Does anyone sit around the dining table/kitchen table to eat any more. I know so many families where a meal is cooked, everyone comes and gets their plates then the kids go upstairs to their rooms with their meals and the parents/adults sit in front of the telly and eat.
I think this is so bad for communication between families. When my 2 grown up kids were young we always sat round the table for meals, especially in the evening and Sunday lunchtime and we talked about all kinds of stuff.
I say lets get back to everyone eating together ( without the telly one!)

Did anyone else see last nights programme about Sasha the 11 year old who wanted ( or rather her mum wanted) her to be a beauty queen and go on to be a model. I think this is a form of child abuse - brainwashing your child into fulfilling a dream you had.
Her mum and dad treated her and her younger brother a bit like performing monkeys. Okay maybe that’s a bit extreme! but it was very sad to see this little girl with heavy make-up on and wearing a sexy, slinky very grown-up dress.

i think these so-calles beauty contests should be forbidden. what does this kind of thing teach young girls and it is basically just for the parents satisfaction and the poor children have to suffer. what mummy and daddy never achieved, daughter will fix it, maybe...
