i had a poll on peoples opinions of the police last month. i was rather surprised by the results, and wondered what you made of them (as well as what your more detailed opinions were). you can check to see the stats, but here are a few: the overall leading opinion was 'useless', with over 39% of voters chosing this. both men and women viewed the police negatively overall, but men especially regarded them as corrupt, unfair, uncaring & useless. however the most popular vote by women was 'reassuring'. i voted myself; my choices were 'reassuring' and 'corrupt'. but i was certainly surprised by how high the negative ratings were, especially useless. what do you make of the police being so poorly regarded?

i received a letter from the job centre today. it's a perfect example of the nonsense i put up with from them. i'd like to share some of the content with you. firstly it's dated 26/01/2009 (it was received on 25/11/2009, i wasn't claiming or married in january). it's asking details about my wife (i have a husband). it also asks numerous details which i have already given them. they have already had two JSA1 forms (50+ pages long), along with other forms and conversations (phone and in person). they also ask when my partner will be joining me (i am moving over there (USA)). it then asks for details of our separation (we are not getting separated). it's signed yours sincerely, processing officer (isn't that touching?)

Sounds like a giant cock up to me. I know that Income Support has changed it's services recently which has caused problems (you can only speak to untrained call centre staff now), so maybe they've made similar changes within JSA. The Jobcentre have always had real problems with peoples claims, but yours takes the biscuit. Hope you've got it all sorted out now.

i still have a milkman, and enjoy the the blobs of cream you get from the non-homogonised milk. i understand many of you don't have the old glass bottles and so no longer get the cream, but what did you make of it back in the day? i love cream. funny that the stuff you get at the top of the milk is far better than the so called cream you get at the supermarket. my brother seems repulsed if he gets a blob in his milk, i guess his mind tells him it's going off or something (which ofcourse it isn't). do you enjoy it? hate it? or give it to the cat? speaking of which my neighbours' cat used to lick the tops off our milk bottles, which was annoying.

I don't mind the blobs of cream in bottled milk. I haven't had milk from the milkman in years as it's more expensive than buying it in the shop, I suppose there's people who've never really come across it before.
