I was just sorting out my books on my new bookshelf (I have about 500!) and I came across my harry potter books I have them all in hardback and paper back, I think they are brilliant! I have read them all about 5 times and when the last one was released at 12am I made my boyfriend go and queue for one lol he came back raging, loads of people had been there dressed up as wizards etc and he was mortified! I got my book, had to pay £18 tho! the new movie is out in nov, cant wait to see it though the films are nowhere near as good as the books! I also have the harry potter chess set (yeah Im sad)

I think that in all probability crime rates in the uk have not went up that much. I think that more crimes are reported due to increased policing and how easy it now is to report a crime. Crimes like burgalary and car theft have in fact gone down according to reports, people are more likely to report these due to insurance,whereas violent crimes (reported) have gone up. does this balance out? do you really think people today are that bad and we live in a crime epidemic as reported so often by the media? (This is part of an essay Im having to do, Ive to get other peoples thoughts too! so no stupid answers please lol)

Depends I think violent crimes have gone up but petty crimes have actually come down. When you look at thugs and criminals their make up has changed and they are getting a lot meaner and a lot nastier now. You will always have criminals, unfortunatley I think that the problem is going to increase as children seem to be growing up with a complete lack of the concept of responsibility. Parents make excuses for them and let them run wild and they little sense of right or wrong, consequences for actions or onus of responsibility and unfortunately when it starts in a 5 year old it becomes a problem as teenager and it becomes societies issue as an adult. Start addressing the kids and some of the parenting or lack of it and it will do more to protect our future than reviewing prison sentences or increasing police numbers.
