I'm very much for, but I don't think the government is yet in a place where they can guarantee the security of the information held on them. Whatever system is used for identity is open to fraud and this one will be no different, but this system could very quickly help identify and remove people from the country who are here illegally. It would also be a very simple way for pubs clubs and shops to check on age so that fewer underage people are sold alcohol. As long as the safeguards are in place for our personal information, then the sooner the better.

I took a gap year, which i financed myself and during which i worked to support myself, and i'm now studying medicine. It meant that when i went to uni for the long hard slog for the rest of my life i felt refreshed and ready for something new. I found that the year being on my own and having to sort myself out has put me miles ahead of most people in my year at talking to patients and i am now so much more confident. But i do know someone who took a gap year and did nothing on it and now she's even more immature than when she started. So if you want to do something useful on your gap year-go for it! It's well worth it.
