Quite simply! I've lost my voice secondary to a virus. (kids thinks it's great) It started going yesterday and today I'm reduced to a whisper..................nothing comes out if I raise my voice to talk. Although my throat isn't terribly sore or red, i am feeling under the weather. That however is not such a problem. Here's the dilemma.....................I'm waiting to hear if I've been shortlisted for an interview which, if I have, will take place on Friday!! Does anyone have any tips on how to treat my vocal cords so as to regain my voice in the next two days? I'm worried I will have to forfeit the interview if my voice doesn't return and it's a job I'm really interested in...................typical!! Any advice would be very useful. (I also want to take the opportunity to say thanks to those of you who advised regarding my topic on computer security a few weeks ago - I've now got it fully protected and for no charge as well - many thanks for that - you're a great of bunch)

Hi Zoe I tried replying to your earlier opinion and then managed to post it before I'd completed it - d'oh!! Here it is again....................completed hopefully!!!! Hi Zoearcher. I hope you've had a nice weekend and had chance to reflect and make some sense of the Occupational Health assessment you've recently had. It doesn't sound like it was a good experience for you but I wouldn't totally dismiss what he's said. Caroldukest has made a good point in her reply. You may want to get a second opinion from your GP about the diagnosis of depression. Depression is the curse of the strong - I've got some good (and reassuring) information on depression. It's not on the internet (I looked) but if you'd like to read it, I will try and get it to you. Regarding pain relief, it may be worth exploring this again with your consultant, or the link nurse from the arthritis team (if there is one), or your local/national support group. You shouldn't be suffering like this. Workplaced assessment maybe a good way forward as well - to identify and put into place frequent breaks, area to do your exercises, correct chair, hours of work and start times etc. Occupational health should be able to arrange this - however you could always get advice from CAB. I imagine it's just so damn hard when you're having to fight your own corner. I'd recommend counselling - it's a good way of exploring the situation you're in, in a structured way and empowering you to deal with it successfully. Good luck Zoe - big hugs!

I took a leaf out of Caroldukest's book and had some 'me time'. I went out to the pub with my sister. She really has the knack of making me laugh and lifting my spirits. She's a joy to be around. It was a struggle to steer a steady path back home and it was all uphill. I blamed it on the strongs winds but this morning my sore head informed me otherwise. Hope you all had a nice evening.
