Reading Yowzers previous opinion about cakes & biccies from the past has made me think about Sunday tea at my house growing up. We always had a Sunday lunch every week without fail, then our Sunday tea would consist of a sandwich (normally made with meat leftover from the Sunday joint) and CAKES. There was always French Fancies, something by Mr Kipling a Kit Kat or a Penguin, a slice of madiera cake for the grown ups, my mum would sometimes make a Victoria Sponge as well. How unhealthy is that? I can't imagine eating that many cakes in a week now let alone one sitting. Was this the norm at anyone elses house or was it just my mum trying to turn us into the fat family?

I had mine yesterday. I was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing with my two year old in his pushchair, he pressed the button and we waited for the green man, as I pushed him out into the road a car sped through the red light, I'm still not sure how I managed to pull the pram out of the way in time as I didn't actually see the car coming, maybe it was instinct or something I really don't know, whatever it was it saved my little boys life as the car had no chance of stopping (its a 30mph road but he was going more like 40) and my baby was totally exposed sitting upright in the buggy. My hands are still shaking now and I feel sick thinking about it, I didn't sleep last night as everytime I closed my eyes I saw a mangled pushchair. I think I will go cold thinking about how close I came to losing him even when hes all grown up.

The closest call I have ever had is being mugged in broad daylight in the middle of a busy high street by two burly men. I am a small female under 5 foot and no one came to help. Luckily one of my attackers only wanted my money. The other one would have killed me if it weren't for his mate

Cara I have just read one of your opinions about a handstand game where you made different shapes with your legs. I remember it!! We used to go "haaannnd banana" then do a handstand but with bent legs or "haaannnd jelly wobbles" and wobble our legs about then fall over. I am sure there were loads more but I can't remember them. PS I do hope this is the same thing you were talking about or I have just made a right soft tart out of myself!!

Oh for the 70s and 80s. I think that was the last time you really saw these sort of games being played.

Yes I did check.
I'm not the type of mum who would blindly push her kids out into the road. As I said he was speeding, he just came out of nowhere, the...
