OK, recently the Red Arrows have been banned from flying over the 2012 Olympics in London for being "too British". I am outraged at this as every country makes the opening and closing ceremony it's own, unique performance. The fact that the Red Arrows are being banned from this is insulting and completely unjustified and I suppose it could be seen as descriminatory. All the other countries that have held the Olympics have been able to do what they like so why an't we? Are the so called Politians and Head's of Government departments so naive about what makes our country great. God why are they so PC. Red Arrows not flying is absolutely ludicrous . Lets stop Big Ben Chiming , Queen s birthday, Trooping the Colour, Rememberance Sunday, fish and chip's and not have a traditional Sunday lunch. I served 24yrs in the Army ( my choice) because I believed in Queen and Country, but now thinking, what was it all for when those in charge of the country make stupid decisions based on the PC brigade. These idiots make my blood boil.

Having served in HM Forces for 24yrs, it was compulsary to carry your ID card at all times and this posed no problem whatsoever. Your first ID card was free but if lost, you then was charged (a fine upto £100) and had to pay for a replacement. This fine was obvisously used as a deterrent but worked. I understand the issue of cost, which is very overpriced and believe the first card should be free. I don't think the real debate is yes or no for the card as I believe it will be implemented anyway. The debate is what information will be on the ID card, photo, DoB, Blood Group, address, name ect. What happens if you move and as we all do age - does that mean we then have to pay to update another card because of no fault of our own. At what age will it be compulsary to have the card? I feel those against the card have something to hide and will be caught out, on whatever fiddles they are committing and for that I am more than happy. Decent law-abiding people will be fine and have nothing to hide and nothing to worry about.

I'm very much for, but I don't think the government is yet in a place where they can guarantee the security of the information held on them. Whatever system is used for identity is open to fraud and this one will be no different, but this system could very quickly help identify and remove people from the country who are here illegally. It would also be a very simple way for pubs clubs and shops to check on age so that fewer underage people are sold alcohol. As long as the safeguards are in place for our personal information, then the sooner the better.
