its a thing to think about

.... in fact I would lower the leaving age to 14 for some children and bring in more, highly structured, apprenticeship schemes for some kids. I would encourage those who have academic ability to stay on and get their A levels. However some children are just not academic or are totally miserable in the school system. Why add to their misery? I think if these children can get into an apprenticeship at 14 or 15 they would be much better off as they would be working towards their chosen career. However, within the structure of the apprenticeship, I would make it compulsory that all children work towards GCSE in maths and English. I would also make it a prerequisite that children would have to achieve certain standards of behaviour and effort during Year 9 if they are going to be allowed to leave early, and I would have something in place to ensure that all 14-18 year olds were either in school, in an apprenticeship, in work or at a military training college. No way do we want them hanging round the streets all day and all evening!

Should my young son be encouraged to play with 'boys' toys rather than the dolls and pushcairs he currently plays with?
I have no problem with him playing with dolls as he is enjoying himself and would go out and buy him a 'boy doll' to use if he wants one,...

I have no problem with him playing with dolls as he is enjoying himself and would go out and buy him a 'boy doll' to use if he wants one, thou my family members, mainly the older generation i might add, keep taking it off him and give him an action man or football to play with instead.
