We grow our own fruit and veg now anyway because its cheaper, so think if everyone started doing that it wouldn't be a problem (of course you would have to have the available land) but I cant see the world running out of food in my lifetime...

Lets be honest with hydroponics you don't even really need the available land. I grow my own veggies indoors in an apartment using troughs so its possible for most people to do it - wouldn't want to grow enough in my place for a family of 4 but then again a family of 4 would be in a bigger property probably with a backyard. We won't run out of food. We have endless sources with regards to new growing techniques, the fact that we get our animals to full size in shorter times through breeding and hormones etc. Everyone should be growing there own veggies from a cost point of view and convenience. The cost of cartage will have a major impact on all foods and until such time as the diesel price drops the food prices won't be dropping sadly.

only if we get too greedy. there is more than enough food on this planet for everyone so there really is no excuse for the poor people in the third world to be starving. its pure greed and indulgence that causes this problem.

yeah i always run out of food but there is still loads always in the cupboard haha
