Should twitter and Blackberry Messenger be blocked to curb the riots? These are the communication media the rioters are using to gather and cause mayhem in some cities.
This is a very terrible situation but blocking the social media is going a bit extreme. 'Desperate situations requires desperate measures' one might say but i don't think this is the way to go. A curfew may be?

Again it would mean lots of innocent people being punished for no reason! I do think these sites add fuel to the fire and I am glad to hear that 2 people who arranged riot events on facebookk have started 4 year sentences!
Maybe the punishments need to be more severe so people think of the consequences before they act. These days people don't respect the police or the law and do what they like!
Make the culprits suffer! No more benefits, no more handouts or freebies from society! Prison sentences, orders to repair/clean up the damage! Ridicule them, name and shame!
In other countries they would of been shot and that would of been the end of it, shame in Britain we have to let them have some rights!

If the riots were organised by using these then I would support them being blocked until the situation had improved.

Yes I think it should, it won't stop them as they'll just switch to another, but everything that can hinder them should be considered.

Maybe what is needed are more checks on these sites, and faster action when signs of dissent are noticed.
