It is heartbreaking to hear the stories mentioned here. I cannot bear to think of the cruelty inflicted on domestic animals, who are dumb creatures and have to rely on us to look after them - and so often they are let down by uncaring people who seem to think these pets have no feelings of hunger, thirst, boredom, discomfort, pain. I wish these people could expereince it for just one day, and then their eyes might be opened to the truth. i also hate to think of wild animals who have a hard time of it trying to find adequate food and shelter for themsleves and for their young.
I am anti animal cruelty and would act if I see something happening that affects an animal but even with existing legislation, the wheels of justice turn very slowly and many times the RSPCA and animal charities have their hands tied so cant do their jobs properly. In the USA they have really become tough on animal neglect and cruelty and you dont get a 2nd chance. Id like to see that happen here where ofenders of cruelty are put on a register for all vets to see nationwide so that they cant condone a repeat performance. Mind you, if we think its bad in Britain, wait until you get to Spain. My neighbour has an old dog named Tengo who used to lie on the pavement in the sun but now he is imprisoned in a dark store cupboard on their terrace while they go out until 10.00 pm and he gets taken out twice a day. It breaks my heart but they all seem to do that with their dogs. They dont see the harm in it. Driving through farm country you see these poor dogs chained up in the blazing sun with no water, no shade, and if they are lucky, a bone. I wish I had a magic wand!
yeh its barbaric in this day and age and they get of with it far to eaasy,if half that was done to animals was dones to humans there would be a outcry, yet nothig gets said or done anout all the cruelty done to animals, fishing is a very cruel sport as is fox hunting and dog fighting which still goes on,animals have as much right to life as we do,and dont know why man thinks that it is his rights to kill and hurt them for fun and food, its pityful
Putting the laws in place and ensuring that they are enacted, it should be seen that the person who errs against animals should be tried as he is tried when erred against humans. The respect for fellow living beings is minimal and abuse on the increase each day.
