Recently I heard that there are not many people that polish their shoes anymore, often due to synthetic materials that do not require polishing. Having just polished a few pairs of my (and my wifes) shoes, I wondered how many of you polish your shoes. I do it to improve the life of the shoes, and because I think they look better when clean and shiny. The media reports stated that many (mostly younger) people do not know how to polish shoes, what are your thoughts?
none of my shoes (well boots) need poishing but my wife and kids do and they do it, many years ago i was in army cadets and well had to (spoon) the toecaps then clean with spit and about a tin of polish
I totally agree I polish every pair of shoes I have and have taught my two boys to do the same, and my wife done the same with my stepkids when they were younger who still do the same today. When I was in the pub trade it got to a point that I was so pssed off with people turning up to work with scuffed unpolished shoes I would send them home and they would not be able to work until they resolved it.It sounds a bit extreme but to me its a part of a uniform and if you came in wearing a dirty uniform how bad does that look.
i used to polish my sons shoes when he was little but all he wears now is trainers, my 2 daughters shoes have never been polished but i do wipe them over with a wet wipe and that works pretty well
