what sort of cravings did you or your partner have while pregnant? some cravings are just unusual but some can be unhealthy with me the most unusual craving i had was salmon and strawberry jam sandwiches it sounds disgusting but i really loved them at the time but, one of my friends used to eat the sandpaper off the side of matchboxes and sniff firelighters and lick a lump of coal it sounds bizarre but it is true i did not believe it until i seen it thankfully it only lasted a short while and her and the baby were fine have you, your partner, or anyone you know had similar cravings ?
but unfortunately anything consisiting of hundreds of calories! Not normally a sweet tooth, I devoured cakes, buns and biscuits as fast as I could shovel them in. Another particular favourite was Butterscoth flavour Angel Delight. I made up whole packets of that at a time; which was a revelation to me as I detest milk! My mum admitted to chewing lumps of coal while she was pregnant with me; perhaps it's why I like burnt toast! I find it interesting that others have gone off tea. I used to love it - the stronger the better; yet as soon as I was expecting my third 10 years ago, I couldn't stand the smell and still can't. I've had to switch to peppermint tea instead.
With my first pregnancy my craving was for apple pie and custard. I would have to go to Tesco every night on the way home from work or make sure I had enough to last me the week. This also extended to my husband. He thought he had to eat it to. We would share a large apple pie between us every night with two tins of custard. When our daughter was born the weight full off me luckily but not off my husband he was gutted. My second pregnancy I craved anything sweet. Cream cakes, sweets the lot.
When I was expecting my first child I had a craving for coal, then when the coal craving went it was replaced by a craving for pea and ham soup. My second pregnancy had me craving for strawberries and cream, and my third and final pregnancy had me yearning for twiglets, pretzels, and ginger biscuits. Incidentally, my first son hates pea and ham soup, my second son cannot abide strawberries, and my daughter, who died when she was six, absolutely loved twiglets, pretzels or anything savoury, but she did not have a sweet tooth, and preferred savouries to sweets
i craved for dove products! n hot flannels on my face! i jus wanted to n=be in the bath all day long with dove products all around me and a flannel on my face!
My craving was very normal compared to the ones you mention dragonlady! I craved fresh pineapple, couldnt get enough of it, seemed to need that fruity taste. My sister was the same, but instead of eating healthy fresh pineapple like me, she ate pineapple chunk sweets - remember them? I aslo went off tea, i couldnt bear the taste, smell or thought of it..even hearing the rattle of the tealady's trolley sent me nauseous! that was just in the initial three months, though, was happily slurping later on!
