I think that it is very important that we wear simple, yet creative jewelery. There is a lot of sale jewelrey, for example, bhs sell theirs for 50p. But this is kids jewelrey and in my personal opinion, it looks quite cheap and nasty on older people. I also think that we should save up and buy one nice piece of jewelrey instead of spending chunks of it on cheap jewelery. Does anyone agree because i am not sure if i am being a bit too headfirst on the matter. I think i am correct but i'd loke to hear anone elses opiniions. Please post because i would lllllooooovvvee to hear from you all.
I think the proliferation of cheap jewellery available is just another indication of our modern throwaway society. Buy something cheap wear it a bit and bin it later. I'm not against cheap stuff or more costume jewellery at all and think everyone should wear what they feel most comfortable with. I don't like overt statements of wealth on people though so see lots of gold or diamonds actuallly a cheap statement. Also if you are ever mugged and someone grabs your 50p necklace it's not the end of the world. I get sentimental about some jewellery but not if it has been a family piece - at some point I will inherit loads of rings from my mum and the thought grosses me out. Second hand jewellery is fine if you didn't know the previous owner , if you did know them I just find it creepy.
Personally I don't buy much jewellery and when I do buy some I buy a decent piece that is white gold and that will last and wear probably longer than me. In my 20's I used to buy heaps of cheap jewellery and it always ended up in the bin and didn't last, wasn't till I was probably 25 that I saw the value in getting nice pieces less frequently - possibly also happened as had a good paying job. My best friend is the opposite and has the largest chest of jewellery I know but its all cheap little bits she buys here and there and that is just her, she is a collector and its suits her and her style as she can keep adding to her vast hoard.
Fashion isnt just about looking your best. its about feeling good about yourself and showing people your personality and how you see yourself..it also shows personal hygiene. I love to shop as it lets me just choose anythign i want - i dont need to explain myself and i can dress mysefl how i want to..its an individual action that makes us unique. if have to look at all the shops in a shopping centre. i'm a sucker for jewellery as it is small and very easy to buy and you know it will fit you...
People should wear what they like, tempered with a real understanding of what suits them. If you don't like something , even if it's fashionable never wear it, you'll only feel unhappy & uncomfortable in it. W hat you wear is the outward manifestation of your soul. don't be manipulated by the consumer machine that wants to pray on your insecurities. The advice of good friend and the ability of a good designer will enhance & promote the natural beauty everybody has.
