We've all been hearing lots about the "credit crunch" for months but how has it changed the way you deal with your money? I've tried some cheaper brands and some supermarket budget brands, but they are sometimes quite poor in comparison with the premium brands that I'm used to - despite what many reviewers and consumers think. So I'm mainly sticking to my usual brands, just buying less, less often and making sure I buy them on special offer. If I'm going to save money, it won't be by buying cheap food.
I heard a tip somewhere that I've taken up myself. It is to do the main shop a day later every week. Its a pain routine wise but it certainly gets rid of the bits that start clogging up the pantry and freezer. Also I always thought that you couldn't beat Andrex 12 pack for value but now I buy Tesco value 12 pack for £1.11. Also value sweetcorn/tuna chunks/value free range eggs (15 for £2.00)/cheese/frozen peas and frozen white fish. My family are fussy about cheap brands but dont notice these!
What with the food and household bills rising I had no choice but to downgrade some of my choices. I have to admit they don't taste any different and in some cases better although the packaging is less desirable; but then Im not going to wear or eat the packaging.
