Family guy, just answered almost the same question this morning which was posted 1 week after this one. Simpsons humour is more slapstick, slip on a banana skin type whereas I think the family guy has a little more intellect to it and gives you a better laugh. In saying that both of them are just silly and should only be watched on the basis that they give you a laugh. New series of family guy has started this week in the UK for those who follow and weren't aware.

Family Guy is a very, very funny show but is nowhere near as sophisticated as The Simpsons- and it has jumped the shark.
