Hyacinth i have had to go to Youtube to get my REM fix...have listened to Man on the Moon annd Shiny Happy People ( can just imagine magnius's face at that) ...now listening to the wonderful NightSwimming. Any more REM fans out there? My friend got glared at by Michael Stipe in Vienna when she said a timid hello to him ...makes me laugh, someone on here said they got frowned at by Elton John...(was it you Linnet).....they don't half full of themselves dont they!! and they forget the fans made them rich ( guess sometimes they get cheesed off )The friend who got glared at by Michael was also told to F*** off by the Swingin Blue Jeans in the 60s...I've got into a stupid giggly mood now, life is soooo funny whe people are all serious about themselves...
Hi Yowzer - I do love a bit of REM here and there, most definitely! My landlord and I love to belt out Bad Day and End of the World! REM are quite versatile as they have kind of covered a lot of styles to fit in with different moods... For example, Everybody Hurts for those feeling down, What's The Frequency Kenneth for a buzzy high, Bad day and End Of The World when you're feeling cynical and need to shout about it. A student friend (who's finished his PhD already, so he's gone now) had never heard of any western bands and he LOVED Losing My Religion. Fall On Me is a beautiful classic to wail along to! OOOOOOOOOOOH they're like a guilty pleasure.....so waffley-versatile ; )
Relaxing, nice voice. Love lots of the piano parts in their songs, and brought their music book for the piano... never been good enough to play them though!
I have to say i'm not what is called a fan. My father likes them and because of it I am influenced into liking them. My fovourites are Shiny Happy People, Everybody Hurts and Losing My Religion
