yes.I would want to be sure it was genuine and in good condition though.I would only buy from a reputable source though.I sell original sculptures online and have never had a problem yet, as most art buyers seem to know exactly what they want
no because i would prefer to see it in reality as online can take on different and misleading effects such as colour, perspective, texture. I would also like to see the size of the art piece in order to mentally place it in my house
It would have to be a very nice piece of art, something that i couldn't live without to justify spending money on it. There are more important things to spend money on than art. If money was no object, then yes i would buy lots
no, to be honset. I'd like to be able to examine it in person - there is much too high a chance that what you were buying would be fake, you could get scammed, or the items could be damaged in transit. Half of the pleasure of art is in the appearance of it, and what looks good on a screen may be unimpressive in real life - there is certainly no way to judge the dimensions
Yep have bought oil handpainted canvasses previously from aboriginal artists online and had no problems whatsoever. Also as I am buying directly from the seller they have received 100% of the funds and the item has been 200% lower than similar items in galleries etc. I have had no problems whatsoever and have found the ones I have found I was able to get enough of an idea of it online to know that I will be satisfied with the product when it arrives. In saying that I am not an art buff and tend to go more for colours, scenes and styles I like. Must say though that art at the moment seems really expensive and haven't bought anything in the last couple of years.
maybe i tend to display my own art work more so i dont really have a need but if i find something i really like i will buy it but the seller must have good feedback!!! and one a very secure site, otherwise no chance
Yes, I have bought limited prints online from an artist I heard about. I purchased them through an online gallery. I was pleased by the prints and my friend who received one for a special birthday loved it too! Sculptures on the other hand I wouldn't because I'd want to see them properly!"
i don't think i would, not unless it was something i really liked as i would be worried about it getting damaged in the post. other influential factors would be the price, the size of the piece, easy of getting it delivered etc.
No prefer to see them in the flesh first, gives a better idea of how its painted and then you trust what you are buying is original. If its a mass produced item for a lower cost then yes online is fine.
I'd have to be very sure that I was buying from a reputable dealer. I've heard cases where even experts have been caught out and inadvertently bought a fake online. Personally I am really old fashioned and I like to be able to see a piece face to face as it were. In the past I've been really smitten by things I've seen photos of in catalogues, only to find that when I've viewed it in person my attitude towards it becomes distinctly ambivalent. The colours on the internet image may not be true to life, and in a picture that is important. Its also really hard to judge size just from the measurements, or whether it will fit in with other things that you already have, I find I can visualise it in my house better if I am looking at the actual object. Also you can't get a sense of texture, you might like a picture when seen in two dimensions then find that it is actually highly textured in a way you don't like.
