I am 15 year old boy in secondry school. Most of you will now think of me being a nasty, hoody-wearing, knife carrying hooligan. That most of you would be wrong. I am a smart dressed boy getting A's and A*'s in my GCSE's and I have no intention of carrying weapons. There is a harsh stereotype on teenagers that really shouldn't be there and that was given to us by adults. Only about 1% of teenagers actually fit the stereotype where, ironically, about 5% of the adults fit that stereotype. I really wish some people would realise that teenagers aren't automatically nasty because of the way they lookor the way they are looked upon. For those of you who really do not believe there is a stereotype of teenagers, explain why the media would choose a story about a teenage murdering someone rather that an adult murdering 5?
Yes, it is ridiculous. I am 17 and I'm at college now, never had detention, smoked, done drugs, gotten myself wasted, fantastic GCSE and AS Level results, never been in trouble with the police. I do plenty of voluntary work and love helping people. Such a thug, aren't I?! The media do it because tabloids really enjoy to create moral panics... sorry but the media studies student is trying to escape out of me... In other words, they like to create panic and give people the idea that the majority of teens are bad and that a teen wearing a hoodie is dangerous... but has it ever occured to them that they may be just wearing it for the fashion of it? NO. But as goballmighty said, nobody is the perfect teenager but nobody is the perfect adult either.
No one was the perfect teen but these days especially in groups they're terrible! there ought to be seperate buses for them so that we can board public transport in peace
