Does any one have a descent soup recipe?? I am a vegetarian so would have to be a vegetarian soup, but im hoping to start a soup diet in the near future, I don’t like all soups so wanted to try out a few so when it comes to the diet I have a variety, I know I like watercress soup but haven’t been able to find a recipe for it!! I was made this as a child and found that it was very nice hot or cold!!! Does any one know where I can get a recipe from. Has any one tried the soup diet or thinking about starting the soup diet. I heard about it in a magazine and thought it would be a good one try, jus to slim down for summer!! The diet along with some good exercise should do the trick!! But yeah any recipes or good ideas for a soup wanted!!! Please help!!
I make veg soup pretty much the same as cara, throw in whatever veg i have. I often just wilt watercress on top for a few mins at the very end of cooking, gives the soup lots more goodness! Eat with crusty buttered bread, mmmm. I dont think you should do that cabbage soup diet, i no longer follow any crash diets, beleive me they don't work! you lose weight but it goes back on fast plus extra pounds on top, i am living proof, all that will power goes to waste in the longrun...just eat healthily and calorie count ( have about 1200 cals a day plus exercise and by summer you will have lsot an average of two pounds a week!
I am really fussy with veggies but love a good pumpkin soup or thick veggie soup. Thick veggie the way I make it is a 1 pot wonder. Cut up into equal size chunks, potatoes, pumpkin, add chunks of carrot, parsnip, add garlic cloves to your choice of strength (I can't eat onion) also pepper & salt seasoning and fill with water to half way up the level of veggies. Boil slowly till all veggies have gone soft. Mash them with a potatoe masher, add some milk and butter and mix while slowly reheating. I do also add beetroot but it makes it all pink and disgusting so you have be prepared for pink gruel. Really really yummy and easy and cheap and simple. I do sometimes add a veggie stock cube if the veggies are not in season and a bit tasteless.
'Half your Garden Soup' - Select whatever vegetables you like (or that are in Season), prepare them and just put them all in a pan of water, or vegetable stock, using an onion and cellery base, season to taste! I usually use potatoes (small cubes); Carrots (same); Swede (same); Savoy cabbage (shredded); Broccoli and cauliflower florets; some leeks (sliced); And plenty of Garlic (optional). When making tomato soup, use all the tomatoes including the skins, again I use an onion base, a bit of garlic, and lots of fresh mint (put in at the end to keep the flavour), seved with fresh crusty bread wedges!
I put veg stock in a pot of water, add loads of veg, leeks, carrots, turnip, potatoes, anything I have lying about actually lol and some dried scotch broth mix, boil it simmer for about an hour then season its easy and suprisingly good! I make lentil soup too but has meat in it, type soup recipes into a search engine you will come across loads, just experiment until you find some you like :) dont mention diet to me Im on one and want proper food lol
