Marks and Spencer has the reputation of being the place where most of Britain buy their undies... Not sure if that's very flattering, but there we are! In fact, they seem to have re-worked their image a whole lot recently. For a long time I wouldn't be seen dead in their "fashion" department - all pink acrylic cardies and crimplene trousers. I really like their "Per Una" and "Limited Collection " ranges. They've paid a lot more attention to fashion and it's no longer just stuff that grandmas would want to buy (mind you, there are a lot of very trendy grandmas around nowadays, with plenty of pocket money to spend!) I don't suppose your average teenager would even consider M&S, but it must appeal more to 30-somethings and maybe even to younger women. Prices are reasonable too, which helps!
The Per Una Range has really added a bit of much needed youth to Mark and Spencers. Although fairly pricey the odd item for an occasion will make you feel fantastic. They cater for most bra sizes and cater for the larger bust, wheras most High Street Shops tend not to. The prices are very reasonable and the bras do wonders for support and fit nicely. The staff in M&S are friendly and will give you assistance if you need in chosing the correct bra. Usually, you dont get see through and multi way bras in larger sizes, but Marks and Spencers do them all. The cafe in there is great as well for some light refreshment on your shopping trip
I didn't shop here for years as I thought it was far too frumpy but I always have a mooch round in there now and most of the time find things I like. It's great for inexpensive tees and vests in the summer - last year they loads of special offers on and I think I got one of everything in every colour going! There is still an abundance of frumpy styling, but I believe that they can and should still cater for their faithful older customers whilst still giver younger customers something suitable. And they're still great for undies and I love the Food Halls.
M & S are rubbish stores packed with people wearing tea cosies on their heads! I have always been dissatisfied with the standards in M & S and I don't think my opinion of them is going to change in the near future unless they take some drastic action to freshen up their attitudes towards other age groups.
The clothes range is a disgrace especially in the sales when they put out all of the stock that they know anyone in their right mind wouldn't buy.
Their food range and prices are atrocious and unsatisfactory.
They need to buck up their ideas and get their heads down in order to save themselves from a mighty fall in years to come. Many people my age feel this way about M & S and these people are the M & S shoppers (or not!) of tomorrow so they'd better get their thinking caps on!
As a child I was dragged round Marks & Spencer by my Mum & hated it but now I love M&S. They seem to have dragged themselves away from the one item in 6 colours period in their history and now sell great clothes at a reasonable price. The quality is always there as opposed to some other shops where you get what you pay for. Per Una is especially good for modern designs and their classic ranges of clothing still maintain their high standards. As a rather short person of 5'2" I have to say that M&S offer a good range of trousers & jeans in short lengths. In many shops the short length is still too long for me but M&S have got it right & I wouldn't go anywhere else now for jeans. If you want good quality clothing at good prices and in styles that are both classic & modern then M&S is the place to shop.
