Absolutely marvellous destination, cant fault it at all, have been several times. Stayed at different hotels in the resort. Quite hilly unsuitable for disabled people. But lovely in Winter, too hot in Summer. temperatures never seem to drop below 29 degrees.
The aparthotel Rio Sol at the top of the hill is great with fantastic views over the Atlantic, has 4 pools and a very large bar, have stayed about 4 times would definately go again.
The Cumana, avoid this complex, although clean and fine, its at the back of beyond.
The Revoli Playa is at the bottom of the resort and quite close to the beach. This is a 4star hotel and is brilliant.

brilliant spot to go if your looking for both of best worlds. great night life but even better during the day for sightseeing and tours. the people are lovely but it is a very english speaking location. i would go back but not with kids. if i was bringing the family i would stay in puerto rico fabulous little place on the sea.go out on a boat trip and defo go on a nite out to souix city the cowboy ranch for a brill nite with plenty of food and drink and fine looking cowboys!!! watch out when your shopping they love to hound you and also the baggage limit for leaving the island is low so expect to pay if your bringing lots of extra luggage home!!

Maspalomas was lovely and it is more of a walkers holiday with plenty of sunshine. I am just back and had a great time. Taxi's are cheap to visit Playa Del Inglis which is more of a party place but still nice to visit. Maspalomas has big sand dunes which are great to see and a fabulous beach with a lighhouse and some rather posh looking hotels and shops that you can browse past. We only stayed in a 2 star complex and the quality was still fantastic, would definetely go back to same place. Very clean, friendly and all in all and easy and relaxing holiday.

the island is great lots to do and playa del ingles is the best, there is some fab night life in the resort if you want clubbing then you can go to the kassbah or you can join in the fun in the irish centre or you can try the jumbo centre which hsa some great drag shows and lots of very family friendly gay bars. the water park has loads of slides in it and is well worth the visit it is close to maspalomas. the sand dunes in maspalomas are a must see if youve never been to a desert then this is the closets you will get to one.

agaete park apartments were just basic accomadation just what i was looking for as i was going on holiday to party and i really didnt care about the apartments. but i wouldnt recommend anyone to stay here as the staff arnt very helpful. the maids only changed our bed sheets after the first week and we kept having to request toilet roll and clean towels. taking this into account these apartmenst are located quite close to the irish centre which is quite beneficial as this is a very good place to go for night life. the pool in these apartments is great it is very big and the other people staying there are relly friendly. finally i would recommed young adults going for a party holiday to stay here as they are cheap and basic but for a family holiday i suggest that you get somewhere quieter and more catered for children!

This resort in Gran Canaria is great during the day with some lovely places to stay and eat but for someone who is interested in good nightlife it may not be ideal, unless perhaps you are only there for a week or with a group of friends for a first holiday! The nightlife seems to be quite random, with different centres and the PR's for pubs and clubs are mainly Spanish, and while I have absolutley no problem with the Spanish (the people working in restaurants etc could not have been nicer), I feel that those working as PR's were rather offensive to British tourists (obviously with a disrespectful stereotype in mind which is insulting for those who do not match this).

I myself lived in Gran Canaria for several years.
I have only returned to the UK a few months ago, and the only reason I returned was because I have had 2 children and me and partner never had the chance to spend time together as a proper family,as we both had to work to provide, as is the same here but with no family for help we had to work different shift.

Anyhow We both have travelled around the island and have lived in most places.

We visited Maspalomes and Playa de inglas on several occasions, but we would never like to stay there for too long, as they are both German orientated islands.

We lived in Arinaga for several months, which is a local town and we really liked it, as we got to see how Canarian life should be lived.

But eventually we settled in Puerto Rico, as we had better job opportunities there and also because we liked the friendliness of the people we met.

Yes there were some unfriendly people,as there are anywhere, but we made friends with a lot of people, English and Canarian.

I would recommend any one to got there and give it a go, you will not be disappointed.

It is the biggest of the islands, the least windiest, and has the best night life and also has good facilities for the children. You can also visit the other islands from there too, which you cannot do from other canary islands.

A great holiday will be had by all.

Gran Canaria can be a lovley place. I spent 10 weeks over there 3 or 4 years ago. I was first with a group of english people I met and spent alot of time in Peurto Rico, I found it too english orinetated, every one spoke english and half the people there were english, if your someone who doesn't like being away from home but wants the sun its perfect. I got the most out of my trip when I stayed in a pension in Peurto Mogan, Alough this is still a touist place it has alot more of the locals there and I had I realy great time getting to know them. If you rent a car you can see some really great views in the mountainous land scape, even on foot you can find some really great views. If you travel there find out before you go the best place for you because it really depends where you go, there is lots of variety.

Puerto Rico is by far the best place I have visited in a long time! Great place to holiday with your family or to spend quality relaxing time away with your partner. We stayed at the Riosol hotel in a wonderfully equipped apartment on the top of a mountain with breathtaking views. My suggestion would be to book self catering as there are so many lovely restaurants to dine at you will be spoilt for choice. The aquapark was a great day out with cheaper entry tickets available from most hotels on the island. The only drawback was the commercial centre at the bottom of the mountain where there are far too many touts trying their hardest to lure you into their bars, so if you prefer not to be hassled i'd take a trip to the harbour instead. x

i've been to gran canaria 5 times, puerto rice 3but haven't been in 4 years because although we loved it, the beach was safe and clean, restaurants and bars excellent, we found the last time we were there we hounded by timeshare salesmen and african women selling wristbands etc. the timeshare scratch card sales people were the worst, everytime we tried to get to or from the beach they were there, rudely interrupting private conversation to try the hard sell, we only get one foreign holiday a year and found our last one in puerto rico left an unpleasant memory.
