I know I will get heat for having enjoyed Black Christmas 2006. Hell, I can't really even call this a "good" movie. It is severely flawed in many ways, and it's not even closely comparable to the original. Monster holes are present in the story line. The cinematography at times is choppy, dark, and grainy. And, most of all, there is ZERO suspense. How can a movie with such negativity possibly get a 7 out of 10?Well, technical goofs aside, there is a lot of fun to be had here!
It has a completely different atmosphere and tone than the original had, as well as a completely different approach at it's villain. For one, the violence and murders in the 2006 version are much gorier and more over the top! Okay, so the original's approach at implied violence worked much better, but I appreciated the filmmaker's aiming for something different! I had a lot of fun watching Billy maim and dismember all of the sorority girls and their boyfriends! The kills were absolutely crazy! A lot of blood splashing!
I was really really looking forward to seeing the film Black Christmas after I saw the trailers on the TV but if I'm honest it was a little bit of a let down. The story was quite hard to get into and it was hard to figure out how every one was connected with each other. But i did still enjoy watching it and it did make me jump out of my seat a few times! (and that doesnt happen often!) I wouldnt buyt his film on DVD but i reckon it is a watchable film and its quite good even though its not the best!
I was so looking forward to watching this film, the trailer looked great. It was a bit slow to start, and took a while to actually understand the story behind it all, but once you get into it its a good story. Gruesome and bloody in parts, and flits back and forth quite a bit but generally your basic pretty girl slasher movie with a bit of a twist. Nonetheless i still enjoyed it although i expected just a little more knowing that one of the girls from Final Destination 3 was in it which is one of my all time favourites. But will definately be buying it when its released on dvd.

To those of you Halloween fans, THIS is the film that came first, John Carpenter's Halloween is doused with aspects lifted directly from Bob Clark's Black Christmas. Alongside Psycho it remains one of my personal classics. Very unnearving and in parts horrific - the phone calls for instance. Basically its Christmas time, as the title suggests and an unknown killer has found his way into the attic of a sorority girls house and begins killing them one by one. Kidder's performance of the drunken, outspoken Barb is fantastic, followed closely by Olivia Hussey, who is truly beautiful in this movie. The camera work and direction is first rate, the first person perspective, heavy breathing - which most will know from Halloween, Mr Clark did it here first, and in my opinion, did it better than JC. It's not full of gore its full of suspense and wonderful creepy atmosphere, as I mentioned before, the phone calls really will put you on edge, as will the 'eye' scene. Get ready for a shocking ending and watch it again for all the bits that you didn't catch, believe me there will be some. Alongside Jacob's Ladder, Don't Look Now and The Fog this really is one of the most frightening films I have ever had the pleasure to acquire.
this film could have been a really good film but it lacked in many ways one the story line is the same as every other horror that everyone seen and there was no blood or guts or suspence the actors were all wrong the script was stupid the sepical effects u could tell were fake we have seen this sort of movie a million times it was not scary it was crap crap crap crap. i really hated it it was so poo they could of improved it by putting in more blood a better story better actors as they were so weak it was unbelivably stupid i fell alsleep by half way through so it wasnt catchy anough
