I don't think anyone has the right to say that abortion is wrong. It is a very personal situation and there are many differing reasons for undergoing a termination. In some circumstances, such as a pregnancy as a result of a rape, abortion is a very reasonable course of action to take, as with abortion for medical grounds where continuation of a pregnancy would be harmful to the mother's health. It is up to the individual whether abortion is a route they take when faced with an unwanted pregnancy. I have to say that I feel it is wrong to use abortion as a sort of contraception, if you take my meaning (!) better to prevent pregnancy in the first place by using condoms or the contraception of your choice. I have never been in the situation of needing an abortion and am now too old for it to be relevant, but I do have children of child bearing age and I would support them if they chose to have an abortion, whatever my own opinion was as it would be their choice, their body and their life.....no one has the right to make a sweeping statement that abortion is wrong.
If it is done for the right reason and not just used as a contraception it is fine .If a person has been raped or a one night stand why should they be made to suffer further? youngsters at the age of 12 are not mature enough to carry a child and it is in there best interests that this may be done. A disturbed Mother has a disturbed baby and this can tip someone over the edge, also an elderly woman thinking she is past child bearing may need one. Who are we to judge until we are in that situation ourselves. I have worked in a private Clinic where they were performed and the desperate plight of some of the girls was an eye opener. Not all are able to care for a child and have no means of support and the family may make them out casts. I think with the adequate counselling and care the process is suitable in some cases and would hate to see it abolished.
