I won my bet that he wouldnt win because he needs one more year to be as top notch as Nadal but he will do it next year. However, I do find him to be a graceless and charmless lad and lets hope that Simon Fuller's organisation will polish up the rough cultural edges and turn him into a gentleman for the future. It was a good match but the better man won in this instance. I reckon you are right about being scottish instead of british from now on. Thats what he will start saying in his press interviews.
I hope not, but we both know that there are some really silly people in the world who seem to do that. I think he did great to get as far as he did and his day will come. He seems more tenacious thaan Tim Henman.
Scottish first, British second, but lose though he did, it was a good match, and a good tournament for him. Everybody keeps saying how much he's improving as he's maturing, but they seem to forget that Boris Becker was only seventeen when he became Wimbledon Champion! He is the same age as Rafa Nadal, but Rafa seems to have been top of his game for longer.
I'll wait and see how he goes, but I really don't mind who wins the match so long as I see good tennis. Good luck to Roger and Andy for this afternoon's final! Yey!!!!
It was a good match and although he did not get to the final, he will one day. There are some people who have now declared him scottish again, rather than british, but does it matter which region of Brittain people come from, we still all live on the same island. He did us proud.
I thought he had always been scottish. As someone who once said "I don't care who wins as long as england lose" I am glad he lost. I hope he never wins any thing else in his life.
People are what ever they wish to be. However, where I live there are several what I call "plastic jocks, taffys and paddies", people of vague ancestory (grandad was Irish, granny was welsh etc) so they think they are one up on everyone else by being none English.
Three of my grandparents were Irish, both my parents were born in England, as was I. As far as I am concerned, I am English.
The Americans settle this one quite easily. If you wishto be president of America, there are three criteria. You must be over forty (two imsc), you must have been born in the USA and you must get more votes than the other guy. So, to be American you must have been born there.
Ergo, Murray is, always was and always will be Scottish.
