they have too much potential to be abused. Even though the chances of that happening are slim i still dont want to put that much faith in politicians.

against, the government offices aready keep losing details of its citizens,and ii wouldnt trust them with anymore, criminals will catch up in a flash and surpass it with near perfect copies,thus rendering the cards useless, and not fit for the purpose they were intended. another waste of money

I'm very much for, but I don't think the government is yet in a place where they can guarantee the security of the information held on them. Whatever system is used for identity is open to fraud and this one will be no different, but this system could very quickly help identify and remove people from the country who are here illegally. It would also be a very simple way for pubs clubs and shops to check on age so that fewer underage people are sold alcohol. As long as the safeguards are in place for our personal information, then the sooner the better.
