I think everyone is effected in some way or other. Virtually the entire adult population of the UK either draws on a pension or pays into one. And pretty much all of these pensions invest in the stock market either in this country or in others. It may take a while to feed through to us, but these pension funds will be taking a bit of a hit. I am in a situation where I would like to buy a house, and the ones I am looking at I could have afforded if banks were willing to loan up to 6 times your salary, but now the max seems to be 4 times, so I have to stay put paying rent. I also have an amount invested in a stocks and shares ISA, which I bought too far from the market peak, so it's probably lost about 30% of its value in the 11 months I've had it. I did get one with penalties for withdrawing in the first five years though, so I'm not even going to look at its value for the next two years or so.
