I am a smoker and at first didnt agree with the smoking ban, but now think this was a good idea. Im not saying that i dont miss going to the pub and having a drink and a fag, or that blissful feeling after a shopping trip of having a fag with my bru in the cafe. but i must say it is a lot nicer not walking in to that over powering smell when on a night out. Or washing the dirty fag smell out of my hair and clothes. I dont miss is at much as i thought i would (unless its raining) The goverment are now saying we shouldnt be allowed to smoke in our cars, this i feel is a little intrusive as it is our own personal space, soon they will be in our homes telling us to stand outside
I am a smoker myself and i felt like you did when the ban first came out but i guess from a non-smoker, they were forced into breathing others smoke and that is also taking their rights away from them in some ways. They had no choice but to put up with it or just not go out.
couldn't agree more, however i think that most people will not smoke in front of the kids or people who can't stand smoking, but to make it against the law, is a step too far
Smoking ban went to far. Smokers should have been given the option to smoke inside but at a separate area from non smokers and it is a shame that they are bannished from work places, pubs, and restaurants for it.
I love it and its as you say its the fact that you don't have the smoke smell in all the pubs and restarants and cafes and when you get home at the end of the night your clothes don't stink of other people's cigarette smoke.
I would hate to see it return as I found that it was a really offensive smell and it definitely ruined a good night out for me as I often ended up with red, runny eyes solely from the smoke in clubs etc.
