It must be 20 years or so since I was at high school. I was ironing the kids stuff for school and try as I might I cannot remember what colour my school tie was. I am thinking it might have been anvy blue with a white stripe but the more I try to imagine what it looked like, the more it remains a mystery. Maybe my memory is trying to prevent me from remembering anything about High School in general - go those were the days - NOT! I remember that I had to wear a black skirt, black blazer and white shirt. Girls were NOT permitted to wear trousers in those days even when it was freezing (I lived ion the countryside so it was always freezing LOL). Happy days.....
omg thats like a good 5-10 years ago. my primary school tie was navy blue with yellow stripes and my secondary school tie was navy blue with black and white stripes
My first junior school was grey with a blue diagonal stripe. My second junior school was royal blue with your house colour stripe (mine was pale blue). My first senior school was gold with a royal blue stripe. My second senior school was dark blue with a yellow stripe and my sixth form was dark blue with gold crowns. Wow what a memory!
That one is easy - being a girl we didn't wear them. The headmistress at our school was of the opinion that the tie was a male garment and therefore girls just had open-necked blouses. At the time we use to get mad and sometimes borrow the boys ties to wear (for which we got in trouble), but now that I'm older I can agree with her. Most women wouldn't go to out in a shirt and tie when they leave school as it is not female attire, so why dress like boys when at school. ps it wasn't a posh school just an ordinary comprejensive.
My school tie was black with a grey diagonal stripe. I hated having to wear it. My dad taught me to tie it but I can't remember how to so both me and my son will need lessons when he goes to high school! We wore a grey skirt, a grey jumper and a white shirt. The boys could wear black tousers and a black jumper but the girls couldn't. Girls didn't have to wear a blazer but the boys did and that was black. Girls weren't allowed to wear trousers at my school either. At least that's one thing that seems to have changed. In the summer we could wear this hideous checked dress but hardly anybody did. If we wore a blouse in the summer, no top button, we could go without the tie, but if we wore a shirt we had to wear the tie (girls only!).
