do u find eating out too expensive now?

My god! eating out comes into the realms of the very well heeled.Certainly in my group of friends and neighbours, eating out has become a luxury and as a special treat. An ordinary meal for 4 can cost and arm and a leg these days. We now take advantage of all the 50% discounts given in top restaurants and that are heavily promoted by Top Table and Last Minute.com. Its the only way we can afford to eat out now.

Very expensive , it is one luxury we hardly ever participate in now and that is due to the cost alone. We are both early retired me because of ill health, so we are on a limited income and it is one thing we just have to limit to very occasionally., which is a shame really because going out for a meal is often a chance of meeting old friends.

Eating out is too expensive, yet on the rare occasions that I go out, the restaurant seems to be full of families. I always wonder how they can afford it as I can’t afford to eat out very often just myself, never mind a family of four or more. I often look at the menu and think I could cook really good dinners for a week for the cost of a meal in here. Even pub meals are a luxury these days. All the pubs seem to have chefs instead of cooks and are offering pretentious, overpriced food.

I must admit, when we went back to our favourite Chinese restaurant we were amazed to see that most of the dishes had gone up between £1 and £2. The mains had gone from £3.80 to £5.90 on most dishes and their set menu that used to be £7 per person was £9.20. Other restaurants in our area haven't hiked their prices this much but I have definitely noticed an increase and I would agree that it has caused us to eat out less than we did and has also made us fussier about where we eat as if we are going to pay premium prices we want good food and darned good service for the price. Thankfully one of our favourite eat outs GBK don't appear to have raised their prices yet so they are still on our list of good places to eat out.
