We've had this before and I agree with Cynthia as my name is the same. I've always hated it, at school I got called HyaCynth (thats why I ironically picked it for my username) I'm not so bothered now but when you are young it is horrible when someone asks you your name and it's a weird one!

Hello sunset, I don't really mind my first name , its Claire by the way. I have never had a nickname and never had it shortened, I suppose I could think of worse names, Cynthia I'm so sorry that you don't like your name I think its beautiful and much nicer than your sisters names, its strange don't you think how people can see things so differently from one another. AfricaInsane, I think Davey is nice but so is Kye, why don't you start using it as a first name if you like it so much, lots of people change their names all the time xx lulu

I hate mine and always have done. It is one thing I have never been happy with. My two sisters one older and one younger have ordinary plain names one is called Barbara and the other one Christine, and then there was me in the middle with Cynthia it may not have been too bad when I was younger if Hilda Bakers stooge had not had the same name. I always used to get Hya Cynth when I was at school., and I used to hate it. The one good thing about an odd or unusual name is that everybody seems to remember it. When I had children of my own I gave them all plain and simple names that could not be poked fun at. Andrew, Stuart and Christopher.

Sure! My parents gave me a name that sounds very film starish and it has served me brilliantly over the years. I get remembered and said in the right way, it opens many doors. Ive never felt the need to change my birth name, despite 3 marriages and have always kept my name. I consider it to be a very lucky name.

i am not over keen on my name people keep telling me it is a pretty name but as a child i had the micky taken out of me all the time because in the sixties my name (melanie)was unusual . the only people who call me by my full name are my mum and dad. everyone else calls me mel which i much prefer and i think suits me better.
