I think you would have to get rsvp,s so you can at least see how many have every intention of comming and then cater for them and say 20 more

I would cater for 200 just in case , I have never done a party that big but whenever I cook I seem to do too much food . 175 people is a lot of people but would only take a large table of snacks plus a few more just in case . Good luck rather you than me doing a party that size !!!.

i will think when i get there big parties are not my cup of tea prefer small crowds where you can interact properly

Well depends on what type of party this is, personally I would cater for less than the 175, because of people who dont show up, and the fact that there is always to much food produced per person from catering companies.
Think about people who wont eat very much, or prefer to drink and have a little snack.

I'd cater for around 130-150 depending upon what you know of the people you have invited
