The criminal justice system in England and Wales. Outdated? Outstanding? Out of shape? Is the system in need of a reform to cope with modern society and change in attitudes to the law, respect and crime?
complete waste of time and money, nobody can have respect for the justice sysem in this country, punishment for crimes is far to low and when they are put away they are out early
i think the justice system is all to pot. a murderer gets maybe 14 years, and only does maybe half of that. surely if you take a persons life, you should do the time your alloted..not get away with it on good behaviour...
criminal justice is absoloutely appauling. i have had many bad experiences with the justice system and because of their system myself and my partner where very seriously attacked all because i was a main whitness against my ex doing very bad things. the system has ruined my whole life.
Well its poor poor poor, they seriously need to rethink the rules and sentences again!!!!!!! You go to prison you should be locked up with nothing, like America they don't dance around thier crimanals they punish them, thats what is seriously lacking in this country, prisoners are no bothered anymore about the threat of going to prison because a lot of them are holiday camps.
The justice system in this country is an absolute joke, the sentences that are handed out mostly do not fit the crime. It is definately time for a reform and also time to shake the jail system up as the prisoners have too many luxuries, their in prison for gods sake not at a holiday camp. I agree with magnius too, building prisons on remote islands is an excellent idea and it should be hard time, not playtime they should not be allowed any such items as game consoles,DVDs or TV's in their cells if they have these items it should be restricted use and only for good behavior.
It comes to something when ex-offenders can take the prison to court - and win - over issues like slopping out on the grounds that it was against their human rights. Like magnius I have sometimes wondered why we don't use some of the islands as prisons - I guess there could be some logistical difficulties with staffing it, but in other ways it would seem to be an ideal solution. I think prisoners sould have basic needs met - and the slopping out system was one that needed to go - but at the same time, so long as prisoners are treated with common decency, there shouldn't be any way that prisoners should be able to complain if the en-suite isn't to their liking. After all, when we choose to offend , we should understand that we are choosing to give up some of our so-called rights.
The trouble with the British criminal justice system is that it has been tweaked and fiddled with for over a century, and now it is a complete mess. We need the government to tear apart the law books and start from the ground up so that everything is in one neat law package, and all the loop holes are ironed out. We need to build more prisons, perhaps commandeering a few of the many islands dotted around our coast to build a few high security Alcatraz style prisons, that way we can empty a few of the mainland prisons to be used to minor criminals.
