I feel that the death penalty should definitely be brought back into crime and punishment system within the United Kingdom. The rise of knife and gun crime in particular, emphasizes the flaws in the our current system and I think that bringing back the penalty could possibly have a big effect on the increasing crime acts which take place constantly. If we bring the penalty back I think it will bring fear to those who commit crime but I can understand why people argue that it is ethically wrong. Is bringing back the penalty the answer?
i think the death penalty should be brought back and once they have been sentenced to death it should happen there and then cos there are to many people just going out to cause troble and killing people cos they only get a slap on the wrist or a couple off years in prison and come out like the big person i mean whyt should they have human rights when they took someone elses rights away when they kill them. so yes to the death penalty
No way. It's obvious to anyone who looks at countries that do have the death penalty that it doesn't work. Criminals sentenced to death in the USA wait for years, sometimes decades, and have on multiple occasions been let off, as it transpired they are innocent. Death isn't reversible like prison, and is not as big a deterrent as people would like to think.
Yes, especially for benefit cheats and other layabout criminals. Much tougher sentencing is needed, too, along with medevial gaol principles - you pay for your board in prison with cash (to the authorities) or simple bread and water on alternate days. Punishment, not rehabilitation, is what prison is all about, surely ...
motive for most crimes in the end are money and our country is in a bad economical crisis ,so as long as money is down crime rates will continue to rise in the uk , i think the death penalty would have to be used in extreme cases and be used as a deterrant for crime by making examples of people.
Sadly there can be no doubt on this. YES YES YES. what discouragement is there to stop people carrying out serious crime? they are locked up in a comfy room with all the mod cons at their disposal (becasuse the bleeding heart brigade say they have rights), 3 square meals a day. There are how many homeless people in this country? Where the evidence is overwhelmingly in favour of conviction the death penalty should be an option. Perhaps the evidence should be reviewed by an independant panel who get the last say - any doubt of the reliability of the evidence the criminal gets like.
It's not hard to find out what are the most important factors in decreasing crime level. Firstly people need to be wealthy enough not to try illegal way of making money. Secondly young people should have easy access to education and other activities - like sport, or other interesting things to do. And the third issue is punishment. And here I cannot agree with gabbythose, because tough sentences are not that important. It's inevitability of punishment that is a key factor.
